Solution Architect

Your purpose in the role

As a Solution Architect, you will be part of the Enterprise Technology Architecture team reporting directly to the Lead Enterprise Architect within the Enterprise Technology and Security Function.

You will play a key role in the developing solution patterns and designs for Applications, Services and Technologies delivered by Enterprise Technology and Security to the Insights Business to ensure the delivery of Learning and Development services to our customers today and into the future.

You will be accountable for maintenance of the system information base, as well as the design of new and existing services to the customer ensuring that they are fit for purpose, strategic and can be delivered to the agreed service level targets as well as levels of quality as defined by the business themselves.

You will work with the Business, Enterprise Technology, Security, and wider Technology teams to provide governance and architectural overview of business led programmes, making sure application and process deliverables are aligned to or improve the current solution patterns and security policies.

You will act as an escalation point for the team to provide support and guidance and will manage partners to deliver the required levels of service based on agree contracts and targets.

What you’ll do to succeed

  • Work with the Lead Enterprise Architect to increase the architecture and solution maturity within the organisation
  • Ensure that all solutions proposed are of a high quality and fit within the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Work with the Lead Enterprise Architect to define Solution Architecture in Enterprise Technology and Security Function
  • Work with the Lead Enterprise Architect and other Architecture functions in Technology to ensure the solution patterns are fit for purpose
  • Work with the Lead Enterprise Architect to visualise and develop the continuum  
  • Ensure the system information base is always up to date and continually reviewed
  • Continually manage identified risks and issues to ensure mitigating actions are agreed, in place and effective
  • Ensure that knowledge is shared within the team, is current and documented to ensure that the wider Technology teams can provide a consistent and high-quality service
  • Provide support to the Change Management Office and change portfolio as required
  • Act as an escalation point for the Enterprise Technology and Security Function and the wider Technology function

How will you do this?

  • Provide architecture support and challenge to deliver a proactive Enterprise Technology strategy
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with key stakeholders throughout Technology, the business, steering groups, and sponsors
  • Keep abreast of technology trends in Cloud, End User Compute, and security capabilities
  • Become a key stakeholder in the delivery of business led projects ensuring delivery is in alignment with current application, data, process and security domains
  • Flexible - ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple tasks
  • Collaborate and work effectively across internal functional areas as well as with external parties as required
  • Participate willingly in the team and keep other team members informed and up to date by sharing useful or relevant ideas and information.
  • Adhere to Insights Security and Data Protection policies
  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships
  • Understand and meet the needs of the business and provide help and support to colleagues as required
  • Build relationships with key personnel across the business

This role can be performed on either a hybrid (meaning 2/3 days per week in our Dundee office), or fully remotely if you live farther afield.
