Software Asset and Configuration Analyst

You will work as part of Service Assurance team to deliver Configuration Management and Software Asset Management services to the Insights business. Managing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure that all Configuration Items (CI) and software and services licenses are always up to date, legal and compliant with any contracts in place. You will report directly to the Service Assurance Manager within the Enterprise Technology function.
As the Software Asset and Configuration Analyst, you will ensure that the CMDB is always up to date and that all managed CI are regularly reviewed to ensure currency and that all service maps are maintained and correct.
You will ensure that all Software Assets and their associated licenses are well understood and managed, maintaining Insights legal position and forecasting demand and budget. You will ensure compliance and Terms of Use positions are understood across all Software, SaaS and platform integrations.
You will ensure that the introduction of any new Software and associated Licenses is done in a controlled manner to ensure that the use, ownership and support of the application is understood and managed going forward. You will build controls to ensure Licensing positions are audited on a repeating
You will maintain the Definitive Software Library (DSL) and work with the wider Enterprise Technology team to ensure that the DSL is up to date and a strategy is in place for all applications. You will build towards replicating this within a Customer facing Service Catalogue modelled as an approved Software catalogue
What you’ll do to succeed
-  Act as a Software and Configuration Management Subject Matter Expert and Champion using specialist experience to ensure the Software and Configuration Management processes work for all colleagues while protecting our services
-  Maintain the Software License register to an agreed standard of quality and currency
-  Work with Enterprise Architecture to ensure that the current and future strategy for all software assets is well defined and being managed appropriately
-  Maintain a forecast for all managed licenses and input to the budget management process
-  Manage the introduction of new software and licensing to the estate
-  Maintain legal compliance across all software assets
-  Create and maintain CI and relationships between CI’s to show dependencies
-  Build and maintain Service maps to aid support functions in understanding how the Insights Services are constructed to better manage incidents, change, etc.
-  Ensure CI data is always up to date and correct
-  Work with the wider Enterprise Technology team to put in place regular asset reviews and stock checks
-  Other reasonable duties as assigned

What you’re great at
-  ITIL v3 intermediate or better qualification
-  Experience working in a Software Asset Management and Configuration Management function
-  Experience generating and creating reporting within software asset and configuration management
-  In depth experience managing a wide range of licenses and licensing models
-  In depth experience managing a CMDB, utilising relationship models
-  Excellent analytical skills
-  Excellent vendor management skills
